Residents of Chuka Town were left stunned after police recovered the body of a man found decomposing inside his locked vehicle, which had been parked for several days along a street near KCB Bank.

Confirming the incident on Monday, September 29, Chuka North Sub-County Police Commander Paul Kuria said locals raised concerns after noticing the vehicle had remained in the same spot for days.

Upon closer look, they spotted someone inside and immediately alerted authorities.

“We have found a man who had died inside his car. After tracing his family, we established that he was last seen on Friday, September 26. When he left home, his relatives did not know where he had gone,” Kuria said.

When officers forced the car open, they discovered the man’s lifeless body. His identity has been withheld until the family is officially informed.

“Inside the vehicle, we recovered two charcoal stoves that appeared to have been used and later burnt out. We cannot yet confirm the exact cause of death, but our DCI officers have taken over the case and investigations are ongoing,” Kuria explained.

He described the incident as heartbreaking, urging people to seek help when in difficulty rather than resorting to desperate measures.

“It is very saddening to find someone has lost their life in this way. We encourage the public that if anyone is struggling, please talk to your family or seek professional counseling. There is no problem too great to be solved compared to the loss of life,” he added.

The body was taken to Chuka General Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
