MP Caleb Amisi Reveals Why He is the 'Only Elected Leader' Who Has Never Met Ruto

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has said he deliberately kept his distance from President William Ruto, even during the handshake era, citing loyalty to his party leader as the reason for declining meetings.

Speaking during an interview with media personality Steve Thompson Maghana, also known as Oga Obinna, on Monday, August 4 night, Amisi stated that he has never met President Ruto in person.

“I am the only Member of Parliament in the Republic of Kenya, most likely the only elected leader who has never ever met one William Ruto since I was born. Show me any photo or video,” Amisi said.

The legislator also noted that during the political truce between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, many ODM MPs engaged with Ruto, who was then Deputy President. However, Amisi said he consistently declined to meet Ruto.

“During the handshake time when we had Uhuru and Raila Odinga, all members used to meet Uhuru and Ruto, but I would always tell Raila that he had not asked me to meet Ruto, and he would always say that we are not in government. I am very loyal,” Amisi stated.

Amisi further said that he has never had a one-on-one meeting with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua or current Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

He recalled seeing Gachagua only once, during a rally in Kitale, where they addressed the public from different vehicles.

“The only time I have also met Rigathi Gachagua is when he came to Kitale during a rally, and I only saw him at a distance because we were speaking from different vehicles,” he said.

He added that he does not attend political meetings without knowing their purpose and referenced recent State House invitations extended to leaders.

“I am not a person you can just call for no good reason. I see people being called to the State House. Mimi siezi enda because I normally ask questions before I go,” he said.

Amisi also alleged that politicians from Trans Nzoia County were invited to secret night meetings with Ruto in Sugoi during the handshake era, but he was not among them.

“People would secretly meet Ruto in Sugoi at night, and they would call every politician from Trans Nzoia apart from Caleb Amisi because they know I will ask questions,” he said.
