A boda boda rider from Ndiruni village, Dennis Karani, is receiving widespread public attention after returning a lost handbag containing over KSh 100,000 in cash and personal documents to its rightful owner.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place at around 7:00 p.m. near Alpha Building in Chuka Town.
Karani had just dropped off a passenger when he spotted the unattended handbag by the roadside.
“It was around 7 p.m. when Karani was dropping off a passenger and noticed the unattended item on the roadside,” said Oswald Gitari Mwenda, an eyewitness.
Upon checking the contents of the bag, Karani discovered it was packed with KSh 1,000 notes and official identification documents.
“I was shocked,” Mwenda added. “Luckily, he found identity documents and a contact inside. He didn’t hesitate and he knew what he had to do.”

When reached for comments, Karani confirmed that he recognized the face on the ID card as someone he had carried before.
“The face on the ID was of someone I believed I had carried on my motorbike before,” he said.
Using the contact details provided in the bag, he reached out to the owner and delivered the handbag personally to her home.
Despite not receiving any financial reward from the grateful owner, Karani says his conscience is clear and his heart full.
“My heart is at peace because I knew what was right, and I just did it,” he said.
The story has since gained traction on social media platforms, where users have praised Karani’s actions.
Many have called for a community-led initiative to reward him, with suggestions ranging from a fundraiser to the purchase of a new motorcycle.
At the time of reporting, no official reward or fundraising effort had been launched.
