How Murdered MP Predicted His Own Death Before Being Gunned Down

Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo

Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were had repeatedly sounded the alarm that his life was in danger before his brutal killing.

Just hours after his fatal shooting on Wednesday, April 30, disturbing videos of the MP predicting his own death have resurfaced, offering chilling proof that his fears were not unfounded.

Were was gunned down near the City Mortuary roundabout by two unidentified attackers on a motorbike. Witnesses report that one of the assailants got off the bike, shot the MP at close range, then fled the scene with his accomplice.

The motive remains unknown, but resurfaced videos point to a calculated and deliberate plot.

In the videos seen by Daily Times KE, the legislator stated plainly that he was marked for death, warning that organized groups were meeting in secret to plan his assassination under the cover of public unrest.

“The people who are messing us here are serial thieves and we know them,” he said in one of the videos. “They even had a meeting last night at 8 p.m. between the goons and MCAs, planning how they would take advantage of any event I attend to cause chaos and shoot me to death.”

His warnings were not without precedent. Were described previous attempts on his life, including one harrowing moment when his convoy was blocked after a funeral. On another occasion, he was stopped from speaking at a public event by menacing individuals who appeared to be part of a larger plot.

“This is not the first attack,” he revealed. “Before the late fracas, I went to another funeral and my entourage was blocked. The following day, I had gone to another funeral, and before I could even talk, one of the goons stated that I would not talk there, causing chaos.”

President William Ruto mourned the death of the MP and offered condolences to his family and constituents.

"May God grant the family and the people of Kasipul strength to bear with the loss of Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were," he said in his statement.

Emphasizing the need for accountability, President Ruto called upon the National Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

"We urge the police to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident. Those responsible must be held to account."
