The County Executive for Finance, Micah Rogony, has proposed customizing the Physical Planning Act 2019 to better suit the needs of Uasin Gishu County.
Speaking at the Boma Inn Hotel, Eldoret, on
Wednesday during a two-day training event aimed at boosting revenue collection,
Rogony emphasized the importance of flexibility and accessibility in the
county’s revenue collection processes.
CPA Jonah Lamai, Director for Revenue, also
expressed optimism about the county’s financial future.
He noted that the county government is on
track to surpass its target revenue collection of Ksh.100 million for the
financial year 2023/2024.
"The county has the potential to
collect Ksh.170 million because its revenue is intertwined with
synergies," Lamai stated.
To achieve this ambitious target, the
county has implemented several strategic initiatives.
These include the establishment of a county
television and radio station to improve public outreach, the introduction of a
monthly revenue collection schedule, the digitization of county services, and
reforms in the health department under the Sisibo Pay system.
The training, held from May 21 to 22, was
organized by the County Government of Uasin Gishu in partnership with the World
Bank and the Commission for Revenue Allocation and was attended by senior
county officials.
