Liverpool Faces Squad Overhaul Following Mohamed Salah Exit Announcement

Liverpool Star, Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah, an Egyptian national and a Liverpool Football Club striker, has declared his end of the season departure, ending a nine-year tenure that transformed the modern age of the club.

On Tuesday, the 33-year-old forward announced his move in a video shared on social media and said that the club was the place of passion and history.

Salah arrived at Liverpool in 2017, having joined AS Roma in 2017, and has since scored 255 goals, making him the third highest all-time scorer in the club, after Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.

Salah assisted Liverpool in winning the Premier League twice and the European champions league in 2019 during his tenure at Anfield.

He also featured prominently in a team assembled by his predecessor manager Jurgen Klopp, as well as in attackers Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Salah continued to play a major role when Arne Slot assumed the manager, and ended the previous season as the leading scorer in the club and the winner of the league Golden Boot award, a fourth time.

But this season his role was shifted, due to a decline in his performance and reported issues with the coaching staff.

Plenty of the 2019 Champions League team remains in Liverpool, with Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Andy Robertson, but the club is currently attempting a significant rebuilding effort as it seeks a new attacking force and defensive and midfield backup.

Salah is yet to confirm where he is going next.

His previous connexions have been with clubs in Saudi Arabia and the United States, with a possible comeback to Italy being another alternative.

Liverpool is already fifth in the league table and has remained in the champions league and FA Cup, where Salah has an opportunity to end his last year with more trophies.
